Even when they’re (trying to) debunk the notion of something sacred about libraries, librarians have to admit that they’re pretty special. This is a long article that sent me on a loop of discovery (libraries and librarians equiped with Narcan), and triggered a recollection that Andrew Carnegie , who had a net worth of around $3,000,000,000 in 1900 built on the back of manufacturing steel (and union busting), went on to build over 2.500 public libraries and coin the phrase, “To die rich is to die disgraced”.
