Not as they seem

We’ve a set of books by Malcolm Gladwell (‘Blink’, ‘What the Dog Saw’ and ‘Outliers’) and Nassim Taleb’s ‘The Black Swan’. It’s all about challenging your own assumptions and understanding the world, not as we thought it is/was or should be, but how it actually is.  I’m a great fan of travel for broadening the mind, but to sharpen it you need to spend a lot of time in the company of people smarter and wiser than yourself – and be prepared to feel stupid.  Or you could read their books.  Which is more convenient all round really, and the Free Library at Blazing Swan has them all for you.  And a last minute Find – ‘Thinking Fast and Slow’ by Daniel Kahneman.
