Real Weather

When you’re  a weather-tech nerd and used to discussing whether the European or the US Supercomputers give the best weather modelling for our event location, what get’s lost is that weather forecasting still relies (in part) on feeding in data from weather stations all over the world.    Some of them are just a box miles from anywhere with a whirly-gig spinning around on top.  Like KI001, the weather station located about 11km south of the event site.  It’s run by the Department of Agriculture and apart from giving useful information for growing crops, it also records minute-by-minute temperature, rain and wind information.  The record goes back to approx 2014, though a little sketchier in the early years, before automatic recording and reporting. So while I personally use ‘Windy’ for predictions (because endorsing a good product which helps safety aligns with the Principles as far as I’m concerned), I’m also a fan of the Western Australia Department of Agriculture for telling me what’s happening now (or yesterday).
