Tom Robbins (July 22, 1932 – February 9, 2025) was the author of Still Life With Woodpecker, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, and Jitterbug Perfume, amongst others.
We’ve got a copy of Woodpecker in our free library at Blazing Swan 2025. Robbins had a great gift for word-play and thought-play, and just playfulness generally. Perhaps a legacy of the time he spent working with the USAF nuclear bomber fleet at the height of the Cold War. Here’s a short interview with him on the US National Public Radio website. Get in quick – it’s likely to be erased any day now courtesy of the Trumpian Revolution.
